Fujifilm X100VI Underwater Housing | Kelp Bronze Glass Launch Edition

Glass ports have been part of the conversation at Salty Housings for a long time. The move from acrylic isn’t straightforward. It requires different materials, different manufacturing tolerances, and months of prototyping before anything is ready to put in the water.

The X100VI became the natural starting point. It’s compact, capable, and has quietly become one of our favourite setups to shoot with. When we were ready to introduce glass to the system, it felt like the right housing to launch it on.

The Kelp Bronze Glass Launch Edition is the result of that process. It’s the first, but it won’t be the last.

The X100VI Kelp Bronze Glass Launch Edition is supplied as a complete two-port kit, with both the glass flat port and the 8-inch glass dome port included.

The flat port keeps the housing compact for shooting above water, near the surface, and in conditions where the camera moves between air and water. The dome port is built for wide-angle underwater work and split-level frames, where its curved optical surface helps maintain field of view and reduce the distortion associated with flat ports underwater.

Both ports are precision-ground from K9 glass and finished with an internal anti-reflection coating. Glass provides greater surface hardness than acrylic, improved resistance to scratching, and long-term optical stability in saltwater use.

Together, the two ports give the X100VI housing separate optical configurations for surface, near-surface, split-level, and wide-angle underwater shooting.

A laser-cut Pelican case is available as an optional add-on. The foam insert is custom fitted for the housing, both ports, and supporting accessories. As each insert is cut to order, please allow an additional 2 to 3 weeks when adding the case.

The right side of the housing features a contoured front face, shaped to sit naturally in the hand without the need for an additional grip. The following controls and features are accessible through the housing:

Body machined from 6061 aluminium. Depth rated to 60 m / 200 ft. Controls are anodised aluminium and stainless steel, chosen for their effective corrosion resistance.

Ports are K9 glass, an optical glass valued for its clarity, surface hardness, and resistance to scratching. It is commonly used in precision optical instruments where long-term performance and consistent light transmission are required. Both ports are ground to optical tolerance and finished with an internal anti-reflection coating to reduce surface glare and enhance light transmission in variable underwater conditions.
