Terms & Conditions

1. Warranty

At Salty Housings we stand behind every product we build. Each housing is individually pressure-tested and inspected before it leaves our workshop. If something isn’t right, we’ll make it right.

Coverage
Salty Housings offers a 12-month warranty on all camera housings and accessories from the date of shipping, covering manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship under normal use.

Warranty does not cover:

  • Misuse, accidental damage, or neglect (including impacts, incorrect assembly, or improper storage)
  • Failure to follow operating instructions or safety guidelines
  • Use outside of stated depth ratings
  • Cosmetic wear or deterioration due to environmental exposure
  • Leaks resulting from user error or improper sealing
  • Unauthorised modifications or repairs

Important:

  • Proof of purchase is required for all warranty claims
  • Salty Housings’ liability is limited to repair, replacement, or refund at our discretion
  • Warranty does not cover consequential or incidental damages including camera equipment, lenses, data loss, or business loss
  • Warranty applies to the original purchaser only

How to make a warranty claim
Contact us at hello@saltysurfhousings.com with your order number, a description of the issue, and photos where possible.

2. Rated Conditions

Housings are pressure-tested and rated to a maximum depth of 20m (66 feet) or 40m (133 feet) depending on the model. Check your product page for your model’s specific rating.

A dome port is recommended for use beyond 20m (66 feet).

Use beyond rated conditions voids the warranty and may result in leakage or damage to equipment.

3. Refunds & Consumer Rights

Australian customers
All purchases made within Australia are assessed in line with the Australian Consumer Law (ACL). Our policy operates alongside your statutory rights and does not limit them.

International customers
Purchases made outside of Australia are subject to the consumer protection laws of the buyer’s country. Salty Housings will assess all international refund and warranty claims fairly and in good faith, however we are not bound by the consumer protection legislation of other jurisdictions.

Refunds or replacements are offered where:

  • A product has a major failure and cannot be repaired
  • The product is unsafe or poses a risk to the user
  • The product is significantly different from its description
  • The product cannot be fixed or replaced within a reasonable time

Refunds will not be provided for:

  • Change of mind or incorrect ordering
  • Compatibility issues where a reasonable solution can be provided
  • Products that have been used in water unless a major manufacturing defect is proven
  • Minor issues that can be resolved through adjustment or component replacement

If the issue is not a major failure, Salty Housings will repair or replace the item within a reasonable time. If we are unable to do so, a refund may be offered.

Any defects or issues should be reported to Salty Housings as soon as possible. We recommend inspecting and pressure testing your housing before use.

4. Returns & Cancellations

All Salty Housings products are built to order. Cancellation and return terms vary depending on the product type.

Standard stock items
Orders cancelled before shipping are subject to a 20% cancellation fee. Returns are accepted within 14 days of delivery on unused, unpainted, and undamaged items — a 20% restocking fee applies. Return shipping is the customer’s responsibility.

Machined to order items
Non-refundable once production has commenced. You’ll receive a confirmation email when your order enters production.

Bespoke custom housings
Design fees are non-refundable once commissioned. Production costs are non-refundable once design is approved and machining begins.

Faulty or incorrect items
If your item arrives faulty or is not what you ordered, Salty Housings will cover return shipping and offer a full refund or replacement. Please contact us within 14 days of delivery.

Not eligible for return: custom-painted housings, items used in water, items with visible wear or damage.

Refunds are issued to the original payment method, or as store credit at your preference.

5. Shipping

  • Orders will not ship until full payment is received
  • Customers are responsible for all shipping costs, import duties, and taxes
  • Shipping timeframes are estimates only — Salty Housings is not liable for courier delays
  • Shipping fees are non-refundable
  • For confirmed warranty claims, Salty Housings will cover standard return shipping costs
  • Out-of-warranty repair items will not be returned until applicable service fees have been paid in full
  • All returned goods must be shipped with tracking and appropriate packaging
  • Salty Housings is not liable for loss or damage of goods returned by the customer in transit

7. Important Usage Disclaimer

Underwater photography carries inherent risks. While we test all products before dispatch, it is the user’s responsibility to:

  • Carefully inspect and test the housing prior to use
  • Refer to our online support resources and contact us with any questions before use
  • Properly seal and secure the housing before entering the water
  • Avoid exceeding rated depth limits or subjecting the housing to impacts or extreme conditions
  • Ensure all gear is compatible and properly fitted
  • Understand the risks involved in exposing electronic equipment to marine environments
  • Rinse the housing thoroughly with fresh water after each use
  • Store the housing correctly and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or extreme heat
  • Insure camera equipment and accessories used in the housing

Salty Housings is not responsible for damage to cameras, lenses, batteries, or media cards, loss of income, opportunity, or time, personal injury or injury to others, third-party damage or liability, or damage resulting from failure to follow care and usage instructions.

By purchasing and using our products, you accept all associated risks and responsibilities, and confirm you have read and understood these terms and conditions.

8. Acceptance of Terms

By placing an order with Salty Housings, you agree to these Terms & Conditions, including all disclaimers, limitations of liability, and user responsibilities outlined above.

Salty Housings reserves the right to update or amend these Terms & Conditions at any time. Any changes will be posted on this page and take effect immediately upon publication. Continued use of our website or products following any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
